Watten Estate Park

I'm sure the Watten Estate locals are trying to keep this one a secret.... sorry!!

Nestled in leafy, Bukit Timah "landed" loveliness is the very shady Watten Estate Park.  Swings... Slides... Sand.... and a flying fox that seems to be out of commission at present!  A really pleasant spot

Because of that wonderful leafy canopy you can enjoy the shade at the park for most of the day, so consider a picnic lunch or walk to the nearby Hillcrest shops.  There you will find tempting pastries at Baker and Cook (billed as Singapore's only true artisan bakery) and the always lovely Bronte... I admit both are a little more upscale that you would usually like...  for rug rats that is...  but give them a go!  Or... grab a takeaway pizza - there are two outlets on Hillcrest - and return to the Park!

HOW TO GET THERE: Turn off DUNEARN RD onto Hillcrest Road and follow it all the way down, past the Hillcrest Shops then take a right onto Watten Estate Rd.  The park is just around the corner.

No MRT (yet) in this part of the world but if you like to bus it the following buses will get you to there ... you'll have to walk the rest.

DUNERN ROAD (get off at the National Junior College/Raffels Girls)
OR
BUKIT TIMAH ROAD (get off at the Chineses High School and take the pedestrian overpass to the other side)
Bus #'s: 66 67 74 151 156 170 171 174 852 952 961 961C

Enjoy a simple morning, or afternoon at the park!

Art Garden 2012 at the Singapore Arts Museum

For all the Singapore peeps!

We visited the Art Garden 2012 at 8Q at the Singapore Art Museum with Miss May this morning and had a ball.    The exhibition will continue through to 12th August.

On each of the 4 levels you will find interesting and interactive displays and activities for little kids based around the central theme of "garden".  It is easy to visit every single exhibit in just an hour or so but make sure you don't miss the intermittent screenings of short animations by Singapore's home grown, new generation of Animators.  The one we saw was just beautiful and I wish I had had time to jot down the name of the film and film maker...but unfortunately Miss May was keen to move on!

I have included a couple of photos to entice you... OR make the choice not to scroll down and be surprised and inspired when you visit yourself!

WHERE: SAM, Or Singapore Art Museum is located at 71 Bras Basah road - and just around the corner on Queens street (#8 Queens Street to be exact) you will find 8Q!  There are loads of buses and the Bras Basah station is of course very nearby, there is also parking along Queens Street.
